How to Host a Women’s Ministry Service Event with The Loved Bible Project

At The Loved Bible Project, we often say that creating a Loved Bible isn’t about the final product—it’s about the process. Ideally, a Loved Bible is created slowly and prayerfully over time, through intentional engagement with key truths of the Christian faith found in our Foundations Workbook: What is the Bible? Who is Jesus? What is the gospel? How does the gospel save, sanctify, and sustain us?

That process involves more than highlighting verses or taping in cards—it’s about discipleship. About learning, discussing, and letting the Word dwell richly in us as we prepare to give it to someone else or even for our own Bible.

That said, ministry doesn’t always happen under ideal conditions—and that’s okay.

This women’s ministry team found a way to make it work. They creatively adapted The Loved Bible Project for a single evening service event at the end of their spring semester Bible study. The event brought together women from all walks of life to serve, learn, and grow in love for God and His Word—together.

We’re sharing the structure, planning tips, and heart behind the evening so that other ministry leaders can replicate it—and prayerfully adapt it—to fit their own context.

Why a Service Event?

Each spring, this women’s ministry hosts a large-group service project as a way to wrap up Bible study with purpose. It’s a time for Bible study groups to gather together, reconnect with women across the ministry, and invite new women in through a gentle and meaningful outreach.

For the past two years, the team has chosen to create Loved Bibles for children in their local community. They partnered with local organizations to create these personalized gifts filled with Scripture, truth, and handwritten encouragement, prepared with love and prayer.

Planning the Evening

Promotion
The event was promoted through Bible study announcements, church email communication, women’s ministry emails, social media, and flyers. A registration form collected attendance and potluck categories (main dish, side, dessert, gluten-free). We also suggest allowing women to contribute a suggested $10–$15 donation to help cover Bible costs. The event itself remained open and free.

Check-In Table
Women were welcomed at the door with a name tag and a flyer listing upcoming summer Bible studies and women’s events. Gluten-free dishes were placed on a clearly labeled table, and signs directed where to drop off food.

Creating a Loved Bible: Tools, Tips & Teaching

Anne Marie, Founder of The Loved Bible Project, gave a short teaching on the Attributes of God and introduced attendees to the vision behind TLBP. Slides helped walk through the instructions and heart behind the project. Included in the slides is a photo of the reference sheet that helped people quickly find the verses since everyone used the same Bible.

Table Supplies

Each table was arranged with supplies as a centerpiece:

Bible Marking Instructions

  1. Tape the “what is the Gospel?” in the front of the Bible cover
  2. Tape the “Six Foundational Truths for Children” in the back
  3. Look up Scripture (using the reference sheet).
  4. Highlight the verse with colored pencil.
  5. Tape the corresponding attribute card at the top of the page (so the text isn’t obscured).
  6. Add a personal sticky note with a word of encouragement or prayer.

The activity took about 45 minutes.

At the end of the night, women were invited to place their Bibles in one of two labeled piles:

  • Completed Bibles
  • Incomplete Bibles (to be finished later)

The Women’s Ministry Team encouraged women to take home an incomplete Bible to complete, or to finish their own if time ran short. All Bibles were requested to be returned to the church by a specified date, ensuring they would reach the children through the partner ministries.

Tie-In with Bible Study

To align with the heart of The Loved Bible Project, this event was built on prior teaching about the character of God. Two study options were recommended in the lead-up to the evening:

These resources helped women engage more deeply with God’s character and equipped them to pass those truths on to children through the Loved Bibles.

Invitation & Outreach

As the evening ended, attendees were invited to:

  • Join Faith Foundations in the fall—a class using the Foundations Workbook to walk through gospel truths while creating a Loved Bible.
  • Sign up for an additional summer Attributes of God study, offered as a next step.
  • Stay connected with the women’s ministry through a flyer listing all upcoming events.

This event became a natural and relational way to invite new women into the life of the church.

Feedback

The response was overwhelmingly positive. Women shared how meaningful it was to create something so personal, rooted in Scripture, for a child in need. Many said they felt connected, purposeful, and encouraged to go deeper in their faith and learn more about the Attributes and the other curriculum created by The Loved Bible Project—and to invite others into it.

Final Tips for Hosting

  • Plan ahead for registration to organize supplies.
  • Use the Bible version your church already recommends.
  • Center the evening around Scripture and prayer—not perfection.
  • Offer optional donations, not a fee.
  • Prepare supply tables as centerpieces to keep things simple.
  • Encourage personal notes—it makes each Bible unique.
  • Follow up with future study and discipleship opportunities.

Consider the Full Process

While this event was meaningful and effective, we encourage ministry leaders to explore the full, process-based model of creating a Loved Bible over time. When used alongside our Foundations Workbook, a Loved Bible becomes a tool for deep learning, discussion, and gospel clarity.
